
This is a closeup of the building shown in the lower right hand corner

As you can see, there's not very much surrounding the facility, just a lot of desert and mountains.
We were bussed in every morning from Idaho Falls and Pocatello. It took about an hour and a half to get there. If you missed the bus, you had to drive your own vehicle, knowing there were no gas stations between Idaho Falls and the facility
Inside that big building, in the center of the above picture, we had a protoype of the Nautilus engine room, reactor compartment and manuvering room.
Once in the facility you felt like you were aboard ship, but instead of turning a ship's propeller, the power was wasted in a water brake.
This was the only time in my naval career, I had to clean jack rabbitt dung out of a sea strainer.
