US former US President George Bush was shot down by the Japanese several miles off the Island Of Minami Jima during World War Two. His liferaft was located and airman Bush was picked up by the Submarine Finback (SS230) approximately eight hours later. Here is a copy of the actual report filed by Finback at that time. |
